Gobi Aloo( Cauliflower and Potatoes)

GOBI ALOO (Cauliflower and Potatoes)

Jai Ho Style Cauliflower with Potatoes. Basic Indian dish that is very tasty!

Preparation Time: 30-35 min (approx)

Serving: 4

Ingredients:

  1. a. Vegetable oil  – 2 tablespoon
  2. b. Cumin seeds – 1 teaspoon
  3. c. Ginger paste or finely sliced ginger – 1 teaspoon
  4. d. 2 medium potatoes, peeled and cut
  5. e. Turmeric powder – ½ teaspoon
  6. f. Red Chilli Powder – ½ teaspoon
  7. g. 1 whole Cauliflower – wash it and cut it
  8. h. Garam Masala – ½ teaspoon
  9. i. Salt – 1 ¼ teaspoon (adjust to taste)
  10. j. Cilantro, chopped – 2 tablespoon
  11. k. Corriander powder – ½ teaspoon
  12. l. Cumin powder – ½ teaspoon
  13. m. 1 green Thai Chilli, finely chopped
  14. n. Black pepper powder – ¼ teaspoon

Jai Ho Checklist:

  1. a. Vegetable oil (Corn oil) – check in aisle 6
  2. b. Cumin Seeds, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, garam masala, coriander powder cumin powder,black pepper powder (check in aisle 2)
  3. c. Salt (Check in Aisle 1)
  4. d. Green Thai chilli, Cilantro (check in the refrigerated section)

Method:

  1. Heat oil in kadai (deep vessel) on medium heat. Add cumin seeds and ginger paste/ginger slices to it. Cook around 1 minute until ginger is lightly browned. Add potatoes (cut in pieces), cauliflower and green chillies to it.
  2. Now add the spices – salt,red chilli powder,turmeric powder,coriander powder,black pepper powder and cumin powder. Cover and continue cooking on medium heat 3 to 4 minutes stirring occasionally until potatoes and cauliflower become tender.
  3. Now remove the lid, if there is any water in the vessel (kadai) then on high heat dry the water stirring occasionally for 3- 4 minutes.
  4. Now the dish is ready, you can transfer it into a dish bowl and add cilantro and sprinkle garam masala on top for garnishing. Serve it with Naan or Roti or whole wheat bread.
